Details

Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) is now no longer part of a safety and security zone with the EU. This guide sets out how to meet the safety and security requirements for imports and exports.

Safety and security declarationsexport nowrequirements applyhave from:

  • applied from 1 October 2021 on all goods leaving Great Britain — this includes goods moved in roll-on roll-off (RoRo) vehicles, empty containers, pallets and vehicles moving to the EU under a transport contract
  • 1 July 2022 on goods being imported from the EU and other territories to Great Britain that did not require these before 1 January 2021

  1. The background and legislation has been updated. What you can do if you chose to use the Goods Vehicle Movement Service has been updated. The information about when an exit summary declaration is needed for exporting goods from Great Britain has been updated.

  2. The safety and security import declarations for goods arriving from the EU and other territories that were due to be introduced from 1 July 2022 will no longer be introduced in 2022.
