After considering all responses in relation to a reduction in vehicle disposal timeframes the government will legislate to reduce and align the 3 police disposal timeframes to:
7 calendar days following police issuing of the seizure notice before the vehicle can be disposed of
7 calendar days for an individual to notify of their intention to collect before the vehicle can be disposed of
7 calendar days for an individual to subsequently collect before the vehicle can be disposed of
The government response on vehicle disposal fees will follow separately after further analysis to determine the amount by which fees may change has been carried out.
