Details

The Yemen (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 ensure sanctions for Yemen are implemented effectively after the UK leaves the EU.

Context

The Yemen (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 put in place sanctions measures to ensure the UK continues to meet its obligations under the United Nations sanctions regime relating to Yemen, and to promote:

  • the peace, stability and security of Yemen
  • the political transition and peaceful resolution of armed conflicts in Yemen
  • respect for humanitarian assistance activities in Yemen
  • compliance with the rules of international humanitarian law applicable to the armed conflicts in Yemen
  • respect for human rights in Yemen
