Testing for COVID-19 in adult social care (ASC)(ASC) is crucial to help protect those who receive care and adult social care staff. Testing programmes identify people who may unknowingly have the virus, enabling those who test positive and their contacts to self-isolate and break the chain of transmission.

Testing is an important part of the approach to help protect those in adult social care services, alongside infection control measures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).(PPE). WhilstVaccination vaccination offers vital protectionprotection, frombut severe disease, no vaccine is 100% effective, and doesimportantly notwe preventdo transmissionnot toyet othersknow fromif thosebeing whovaccinated areprevents infected.

To identify positive cases and continue to monitor the effects and transmission of COVID-19, we must continue to operate a comprehensive, adhered to, testing programme, regardless of vaccination status.

Vaccination is just one tool in our collective response and recovery from the effectsdisease. ofTherefore, COVID-19, and so testing and other infection control measures includingmust the use of appropriate PPE will continue to be theused necessarytogether and proportionate approach to help keep ASCcare staff, home andresidents, those theywho receive care for,and staff safe.

We are continuously reviewing our testing strategy for adult social care in light of the latest evidence and available testing.
