Bringing your pet to the UK from Ukraine

If you are from Ukraine and are seeking refuge in the UK, you can bring your pet dog, cat or ferret without it going into quarantine or isolation if it has:

• been vaccinated against rabies and had a blood test 30 days later to confirm the vaccine worked, and waited 3 months after the blood test to travel to the UK
• been microchipped
• a pet passport or health certificate issued before you left Ukraine
• had tapeworm treatment

1. Before you travel to the UK, call the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) on +44 3000 200 301 (option 2) or email ukrainepettravel@apha.gov.ukpettravel@apha.gov.uk to find out what to do.

2. APHA will email you a form for a quarantine licence for your pet. Fill in the form and email it back to APHA.

3. APHA will review your licenceapplication. formThey andwill then send you a copy of the vaccineslicence andby healthcareemail. yourIt petwill hasbe had.valid for one month.

4. DependingArrange onyour travel to the vaccinesUK. You must arrive at an approved port or airport and healthcarefollow your petcarrier’s hasrules had,for APHAtravelling maywith sendpets. Book your travel so you awill homearrive isolationin form.the ThisUK willbetween ask8am youand about8pm. Outside of these hours the homequarantine wherefacility youmay willnot be staying.able Youto collect your pet and you may need to wait until the following morning.

5. Email APHA with your hosttravel details.

6. APHA will book your animal into quarantine before you arrive in the UKUK.

7. When mustyou fillarrive this in the UK, someone will collect your pet and emailtake it back to APHA.the quarantine facility.

If your pet left Ukraine between 30 and 90 days ago

Your pet may have to go into quarantine when it arrives in the UK.UK, depending on the vaccines and healthcare it has had.

You will not have to pay to quarantine your pet, or for your pet’s transport to and from quarantine facilities.
