Change description : 2023-08-22 14:00:00: Added a new document collection: Individuals whose honours have been revoked by The Sovereign [Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office]
This series brings together recent honours lists, reports on the reform and operation of the honours system, case study leaflets of some of the people who have received honours and details of how to make a nomination.
The honours system has a long history and has evolved over time into the modern system we have today. The honours system last underwent significant reform in 2005 in response to the 2004 reviews by the Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) and Sir Hayden Phillips.
Every 3-5 years the Cabinet Office publishes a report into the honours system outlining its operation and any changes which have taken place within the period. Additionally, every 5 years (“quinquennium”), a review is carried out of how honours are distributed across the different categories of activity in UK life.
Individuals whose honours have been revoked by The Sovereign
Honours are revoked where an individual is deemed to have brought the honours system into disrepute. This page lists those whose honours have been forfeited.
