The Heat Pump Investment Accelerator Competition (HPIAC), worth up to £30 million in total, aims to bring forward investment in the UK heat pump manufacturing supply chain.

It is open to UK registered businesses (which includes those that may be set up for the purpose of delivering the project in the application), who can apply for grant funding of up to £15 million per project, for major investments in the manufacture of heat pumps and strategically important components.

The guidance outlines the process through which we will distribute scheme funding. It details:

  • how the scheme will work
  • the eligibility criteria
  • how to apply
  • how applications will be assessed
  • how funding will ultimately be distributed, including the contractual arrangements
  • how successful projects will report progress

How to apply

The competition is open for applications.

  1. Read the guidance and all associated documentation.

  2. Complete the application form and templates.

  3. Provide all accompanying documentation to the level of detail requested.

  4. Submit your application to heatpumpaccelerator@energysecurity.gov.uk with the subject heading ‘HPIAC Application - [Project title]’.title]’, Theby submission deadline has been extended until 3pm on Wednesday 184 October 2023.

Question and answer sessions

We are hosting Question and Answer sessions for interested applicants in the week beginning 24 July 2023.

To register your interest in these sessions email heatpumpaccelerator@energysecurity.gov.uk by Friday 14 July 2023, including contact email addresses for everyone you wish to be invited.

Clarification questions

If you need any clarification when preparing your application, email heatpumpaccelerator@energysecurity.gov.uk with the subject heading ‘HPIAC Clarification - [Project title]’.

If the clarification is deemed relevant to other potential applicants, we will share the questions and responses here. Please highlight any parts of your clarification which you consider to be confidential, so we can redact or edit it as necessary before sharing.

The deadline for enquiries is 5pm on Friday 22 September 2023.
