PigReport keepers:pig report and record movements to or from your holding

You must report movements any time pigs move on or off your holding or premises. You must do this even if you keep pigs as pets or have temporary responsibility for them.

Reporting movements helps contain and control the spread of disease. It’s your responsibility to follow the rules. If you owndo not, you could get movement restrictions on your herd, get a fine or keepbe farmedprosecuted.

There’s different guidance for reporting and recording pig movements if you’re a market, collection centre, showground or petslaughterhouse.

Before you move pigs

Read (includingwhat micropigs)keepers need to know about moving pigs, youwhich mustincludes reportguidance on how to register your land and recordregister anyas movements.a keeper.

If you cannot use eAML2 to report movements online, you’ll need to call the helpline each time you want to move pigs

Beforepigs. You’ll need to allow time for them to set up the move and send you the movement documents in the post before you can move pigsthe pigs.

After you’ve registered, you must:can enter all your pig keeping details in Pig Hub - this will save your information and help fill in the movement forms.

  Set anyup a movement of(‘pre-notify’)

  You pigsmust fromset up a movement on eAML2 before you move your holdingpigs. unlessThis you’reis movingoften pigscalled ‘pre-notifying’.

  You do not have to set up a marketmovement orif collectionit’s centreto a vet for emergency treatment.

  You’ll need to:

  • select your farm as the ‘departure site’
  • getselect awhere haulieryou summary/movementwant documentto (HS/MD)send your pigs, for example a slaughterhouse

  Pre-notify

  You’ll movementneed ofyour pigs

  holding details and CPH number, unless you’ve set up your profile in Pig Hub (these details will already be filled in).

  ToDepending pre-notify,on youthe can:type of move you’ll also need to record some or all of the following:

  • lot numbers or individual animal identification numbers (for example, for pedigree pigs), if you have notthem

    If theyou receivingdo keeper does not have an eAML2 account, you should get 2 copies of the sendermovement document needsfrom the haulier. Use these to givereport the hauliermove 2to copieseAML2 by phone. You must keep a copy of the HS/MD.document Thefor haulier6 willmonths.

    When givethe onepigs copyarrive toon your holding, you must follow the receivingstandstill keeperrules toif helpthere themare reportlivestock on your holding.

    It’s against the move.law to send pigs without movement documents, so you should not receive pigs without movement documents.

      Movingany pigs throughready holdings

      Youto sell so that they can movemeet pigstheir ‘downwards’buyers’ throughdemand.

      If athis sethappens, ofthe holdings,market knownmust asreport athe pigwhole pyramid.movement The- movementsoff areyour frequentholding and pre-determinedon andto aretheirs exempt- fromon the 20-daysame standstillday rules.the pigs arrive.

      Movements from a market

      YouAs musta getfarmer, approvalkeeper ofor exemptionbuyer, you do not have to set up (pre-notify) a movement when:

      • you buy pigs from APHAa market
      • if you owntake thesethem holdings.back APHAto your holding

      The market will inspectdo yourthis holdingsfor toyou checkin thateAML2 theyand complygive withthe stricthaulier biosecuritymovement conditions.document Thiscopies.

      You’ll isneed to minimiseconfirm the riskpigs’ ofarrival introducingat oryour spreadingholding disease.- this should be the same as stated on the movement document. If the holdingpigs doeswere notmoved comply,to thena APHAdifferent willdestination notyou approve.must make sure that is corrected on eAML2.

      If you’re planning on selling pigs at the marketshow orand collectionyou centre.do Younot canalready gethave a paperbuyer, HS/MDyou frommust also print a market‘show orsales collectionform’. centre,You’ll orget requestthis oneafter fromyou’ve AHDBset up the movement to the show in eAML2.

      OnTake thethis daywith theyou pigsand aregive sent,it to the marketnew orkeeper, collectionwho’ll centreuse willit useto confirm the eAML2movement systemon to:

      • pre-notifyto their holding. Include the movement fromreference yournumber, farm

        When oryou collectionbuy centre

      pigs at a show

      BeforeLog youin moveto animalseAML2 youand mustenter checkthe thatmovement reference number on the marketshow orsales collectionform. centreYou providescan then check the same-daydetails reportingand service.confirm the movement on to your holding.

      MoveMoving pigs fromfor aexhibition marketor performance reasons (‘special destination’ moves)

      This will allow you to move the haulier.pigs to a destination without a CPH number. You can set up new destinations as you need to.

      You’ll only need to confirm the animals’off arrivaland aton movement on the premisessame statedday in- you’ll be prompted to set up the movementreturn document.movement.
