Official statistics

Statistics on International Development (SID) focuses on the main international measure of official aid spend, known as Official Development Assistance (ODA). SID is published twice each year: provisional aid spend is published in the spring and final aid spend in the autumn.

The provisional SID publication is based on summary data with limited sector and geography breakdown. The final SID publication is based on finalised data and provides detailed breakdowns including a project-level dataset.

SID publications are designated as National Statistics publications.

Other statistical series: results estimates

We collect results data from across our programmes to monitor our performance and demonstrate impact. We continuously review our approach, to improve our data and to make more results publicly available.

These results estimates are not official statistics but voluntarily comply with the Code of Practice for Statistics.

Current thematic results include:

International Climate Finance (ICF) results

International Climate Finance (ICF) is provided jointly with 3 other government departments:

  • Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ, formerly the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy)
  • Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT)
  • Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra)

Results are reported by each department and the FCDO publishes them.

Girls’ education results

We support girls’ education worldwide and publish the results.

Humanitarian and social protection results

We provide lifesaving food aid, cash and voucher transfers to support vulnerable people after natural disasters, conflict and other crises. View our humanitarian and social protection results.

Other results estimates

Results estimates for the reporting period 2015 to 2020 (under the Department for International Development) were published in 2021: DFID Results Estimates. These results monitor delivery of DFID’s Single Departmental Plan over the spending review period 2015 to 2020.
