Bishop James Jones proposed a 'charter for families bereaved through public tragedy’, the Hillsborough Charter. The Deputy Prime Minister has signed the charter on behalf of the government.

The Deputy Prime Minister has also written to all government departments, to ensure everyone who works in government is aware what the charter means for the way they work.
