Before you start

You’ll need:

• the period of pay, which could be:
  • weekly
  • every 2 weeks
  • every 4 weeks
  • monthly
• if you’re an employee, the date you were paid
• if you’re an employer, the date you paid your employee
• the amount paid before any deductions
• the employee’s National Insurance category letter —  found on the employee’s payslip
