Details

This guidance supports schools in making statutory teacher assessment judgements at the end of KS2, and schools and local authorities in undertaking statutory moderation of these judgements.

Guidance for the optional key stage 1 assessment in the academic year 2023 to 2024 will be available in the autumn.

  1. Updated for the academic year 2024 to 2025.

  2. Date correction in section 3: 'Submit teacher assessment form' available on the Primary Assessment Gateway from Monday 20 May - previously stated Monday 13 May.

  3. Sections 9.2 and 16.1: Clarified and provided non-exhaustive examples of reasons for potential additional external moderation which could be more frequent than every 4 years.

  4. Added clarification to section 9.2 (external moderation): Where an additional moderation visit takes place within the 4-year cycle, this visit will be counted as additional and should not impact the school’s 4-yearly cycle.

  5. The date for local authorities to begin informing schools if they will receive an external moderation visit for teacher assessment has changed from Friday 10 May to Friday 17 May.
