We have updated the Capacity Market frequently asked questions document, adding questions 11-13 to clarify changes made to the Capacity Market in July 2023.

The informal consolidation is for information only and should not be relied upon as a definitive statement of the Capacity Market Rules.

The rules provide the detail for implementing the operating framework set out in regulations. This means that the rules focus on the technical and administrative rules and procedures for how the Capacity Market operates and includes matters such as procedures relating to the day-to-day running of the Capacity Market, the process by which capacity providers pre-qualify, and rules for running capacity auctions and issuing capacity agreements to successful bidders.

Ofgem also have responsibility for managing and making any changes to the Capacity Market Rules. Ofgem Rule amendments are reproduced on this page, but these remain the responsibility of Ofgem, and any version on their website should be considered the most up to date version.
