This regulatory position statement (RPS) does not change your legal requirement to take all reasonable steps to avoid contaminating other waste with with POPs when when you shred waste upholstered domestic seating at a waste treatment site.

RPS 264 has been updated to the latest template and extended 31 December 2028. This extension allows us time to produce guidance for operators on how to monitor the fugitive emissions and operators time to monitor, and if required, install any abatement before the deadline. We have clarified in the ‘Things to note’ section examples of methods you can use to minimise fugitive dust emissions from shredding waste upholstered domestic seating.
