Details
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is working with partners to deliver an Afghan sponsorship project, modelled on the existing Community Sponsorship scheme. MHCLG leads this project in conjunction with CitizensPrincipal UKSponsors and ensures the provision of sponsor groups and properties to undergo checks and matching forof families.families to properties.
This is a specific project to support households eligible for the Afghan Citizens Resettlement SchemeProgramme (ACRS) and the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) into accommodation as part of the government’s commitment to these cohorts.
The project tests the suitability of an approach that strengthens the role of voluntary and civil society organisations to provide ongoing support at a local level. We are monitoring the progress of the project to better understand the ability of this type of scheme to support eligible persons to resettle in the UK more broadly. broadly.
A further policy update will be provided at a later date, dependent on the outcomes of the project.
