Details

The government is committing a record 2 year investment of £2.65 billion in flood and coastal erosion risk management.  This covers April 2024 to March 2026.

The programme includes information about projects that will receive an allocation between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026. You can download the full list of these projects.

£140 million from the investment programme will be prioritised for 29 projects that are ready for delivery. This will help make sure communities are protected as soon as possible. You can also download the list of these 29 projects.

This 2 year commitment will better protect 52,000 homes and non-residential properties such as:

  • shops
  • business and industrial premises
  • schools
  • hospitals
  • transport links
  • utility sites

The Environment Agency is committed to reducing the risk of flooding. This includes the risk of flooding from:

  • rivers
  • the sea
  • groundwater
  • surface water

We develop projects to reduce flooding and coastal erosion by working with:

  • local authorities
  • internal drainage boards
  • local communities

The Regional Flood and Coastal Committees (RFCCs) support this approach and have agreed the programme.

The programme includes information about projects that will receive an allocation between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026.

The future of multiyear projects is subject to change and the outcome of both annual RFCC consenting and the 2025 Spending Review.
