Recyclability assessment methodology: background and definitions

Supporting technical guidance for the recyclability assessment methodology, including an explanation of how to classify your packaging and technical definitions

Documents

Details

This is additional technical guidance for the recyclability assessment methodology.

It covers:

  • how to classify your packaging and correctly report it
  • the stages of recyclability, and how these relate to the red, amber and green ratings
  • rules around take-back schemes
  • definitions of technical terms

This supplements the guidance on individual materials, which can tell you the rating of a particular packaging material.

There is also a broader overview of the RAM that explains:

  • who must do this
  • how to assess your packaging waste
  • how to report it

The RAM is also available in Welsh (Cymraeg).
