This code relates to the powers and duties conferred or imposed under part 4 and sections 249 and 252 to 258B of part 9 of the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.

  • the circumstances in which a data retention, technical capability, national security, or notification notice can be given
  • the process that must be followed before a notice can be given
  • the obligations that may be imposed by the giving of a notice
  • the ensuing right of review
  • oversight of the use of notices
