MCA approved organisations

Details

Please find attached a list of all organisations whose method for determining the verified gross mass (VGM) of a packed container has been approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). These shippers can provide a VGM to port terminals and ships masters (or their representatives) which meet the SOLAS chapter VI amendments.

Please note: method 1 users (those who weigh the packed and sealed containers) do not require MCA approval numbers at this time.

To apply for approval: Indicative application document for container weight approval.

More information about the container weighing amendment: MGN 534 (M+F) Cargo Safety: Verifying gross mass of containers and information on how to become an approved organisation: Verification of the gross mass of packed containers by sea.
