Details

Under the Retrocession Agreement between HMT and Pool Re, made pursuant to the Reinsurance (Acts of Terrorism) Act 1993, HMT has a role in certifying whether a particular incident falls within the definition of an ‘act of terrorism’ contained in the Act, and hence whether the incident would be covered by Pool Re. This letter provides an update to a 2004 letter, issued by HMT, regarding general principles of HMT interpretation in applying the relevant definition of terrorism.
