Summary of the agreement
The UK-USA marine equipment Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) contains the conditions under which each country will accept conformity assessment results from the other. It maintains the effects of the EU-USA marine equipment MRA in a bilateral context.
It also:
- promotes cooperation between the UK and
USUSA on international marine equipment regulations - encourages the improvement and future evolution of UK and
USUSA regulatory requirements to help enhance safety at sea and prevent marine pollution
This UK-USA MRA covers the marine equipment sector: The Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2016.
DesignatedUnder UKthe MRA, the USA accepts that designated marine equipment canthat behas testedbeen certified in the UK againstaccording USto regulations.UK Therequirements goodscomplies canwith thenUSA berequirements used on US ships without additionalneeding further testing inor the US.certification.
DesignatedThe marineUK equipmentaccepts fromthat thedesignated USmarine canequipment bethat testedhas been certified in the USUSA againstaccording UKto regulations.USA Therequirements goodscomplies canwith then be used on UK shipsrequirements without additionalneeding further testing inor the UK.certification.
