Modern energy cooking services: a pathway to mitigating urban heat stress
This policy brief highlights the findings of a comprehensive landscape study conducted under the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme.
Abstract
This policy brief provides insights into the role of cooking in contributing to urban heat stress in many rapidly growing cities in the global South, particularly in low-income and informal urban settlements. This brief is targeted at policymakers, urban planners, researchers, and stakeholders in clean energy and urban resilience. It aims to bridge research with policy action, ensuring equitable and modern energy transitions while addressing the intersecting challenges of thermal comfort, health and sustainable urban development.
This brief is part of the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme.
