Following a transparent, fair and centralrobust procurement process, BDUK awarded supplier Wildanet two contracts with a combined value of £36 million to provide up to 19,250 hard-to-reach premises in South West Cornwall (Lotsand 32.02Mid Cornwall with access to gigabit-capable broadband. The contracts were signed in January 2023.

An amount of preparatory work is required to reach premises (for example, digging trenches, laying duct, installing fibre) prior to datebeing able to access a service. This varies depending on geography and supplier. The first premises under these contracts but willthese nocontracts longerare deliveranticipated to have access to gigabit-capable broadband in Summer 2023. Once the remaininggigabit-capable 7,700network contractedhas premises. been built, residents and businesses will be able to request a connection from a broadband service provider to benefit from the faster speeds.
