Information for employers on how to provide the EYTDA and support trainees to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to achieve early years teacher status (EYTS).

This guidance is to help:

  • early years employers understand the requirements and best practices for implementing the EYTDA in their settings
  • training providers ensure the delivery of high-quality EYTDA courses
  • EYTDA mentors understand their role in being an effective mentor and support for trainees

It outlines key requirements and best practices for apprenticeship delivery, including:

  • funding information
  • programme structure
  • safeguarding
  • mentoring and support
  • end-point assessment
  • entry criteria and recognition of prior learning
  • graduate outcomes

Assessment form

Employers can use the form to assess the suitability of EYTDA trainees to work in early years level 3 staff:child ratios.
