Details

Approved Document L and Approved Document F have been updated as part of the Future Homes and Buildings Standards.

These documents, along with Approved Document O, set requirements for a home user guide to be provided to owners of new homes. This publication provides an updated template that housebuilders may find useful to follow in meeting those requirements..

The home user guide should contain non-technical advice on how to operate and maintain the home in a healthy and energy efficient manner. The guide should contain advice on ventilation, heating and domestic hot water, on-site electricity generation and staying cool in hot weather.

A template is provided here for housebuilders, which they may find useful to follow.

A ventilation guide is provided for people doing energy efficiency work in existing buildings, such as replacing windows, to provide to occupiers. The guide explains why ventilation is important for health, describes the ventilation standards of the Building Regulations when energy efficiency work is done and advises how ventilation equipment should be used and maintained.
