Following the agreement of the Fixed Telecoms Modernisation Charter, this checklist sets out steps that communication providers should take to protect customers ahead of proceeding with any non-voluntary migrations of their telecoms services. These activities serve to keep customers who require additional support customers safe throughout any telecoms modernisation.
Current fixed telecoms modernisation programmes include the analogue landline, also known as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) migration, and the closure of some telephone exchanges.
For the vast majority of users, this change will cause little if any disruption. However, in some instances, telecoms companies will be required to migrate customers who have not fully engaged with their provider ahead their proposed upgrade or service change (‘non-voluntary migrations’).
