Apply to the Interim Measures Alarm Fund (IMAF)
Apply for government funding to meet the cost of installing fire alarms to replace waking watch measures in residential buildings in England.

The Interim Measures Alarm Fund (IMAF), managed and delivered by Homes England, provides government funding to install interim fire alarm systems in residential buildings.
Before you start
Read the IMAF guidance to find out more about the fund and who can apply.
Who can apply
You can apply for funding as a private or a social sector applicant, for buildings that are:
- located in England
- residential or student accommodation
You must be:
- a Responsible Entity or Responsible Person
- an authorised representative of a Responsible Entity
Leaseholders or residents can not apply for funding from the IMAF and should contact the building owner or managing agent.

Apply for Interim Measures Alarm funding
Your application should take around 30 minutes to complete.
The online application form must be completed in one go as your progress is not saved.
Only the names and contact details you provide yourself are sent to Homes England.
You can apply for funding by completing an application form online. This is hosted on Microsoft Forms.

After you have applied
Once you have submitted your application you will need to provide additional evidence to Homes England.
This includes:
- a letter of authority to act on behalf of the Responsible Entity or Responsible Person for the building (if you are applying as a representative)
- supporting evidence that identifies the need for an interim alarm
Evidence could include any or all of the following:
- communication from a Competent Person
- communication from a local regulator such as a fire and rescue service or local authority
- reports on safety issues such as a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) or Fire Risk Appraisal for External Walls (FRAEW)
Email your evidence to IMAF@homesengland.gov.uk with the building name as the subject of your email.
