Details

Developers should read this guidance if they plan to release or market a precision bred plant (or food and feed derived from it). It explains:

  • how to submit a release or marketing notice for your plant
  • the information to include in your notice
  • rules to follow when releasing precision bred plants into the environment in research and development trials

You must also check that your plant meets the precision breeding criteria outlined in the ACRE guidance on producing precision bred plants

If you plan to market your precision bred plant as food or feed, you also need authorisation from the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Read the FSA guidance on food and feed marketing authorisation of precision bred organisms.
