Detail of outcome
This consultation ran for 6 weeks from 11 October to 25 November 2024. It was issued as part of the ‘Invest 2035: the UK’s modern industrial strategy’ green paper.
Responses supported the analysis:
- identifying frontier industries and places
- identifying key economy-wide growth barriers and opportunities
- selecting policy interventions
This complemented the wider quantitative and qualitative analysis undertaken by DBT (which is set out in the technical annex to the Industrial Strategy).
The online consultation received more than 27,000 responses across 36 individual questions. Around 150 further submissions were received by email. A wide range of respondents provided feedback, including:
- more than 250 business associations representing hundreds of thousands of businesses across the UK
- individuals
- academics
- think tanks
- trade unions
Their feedback has been summarised within key themes, with anonymous quotes included for illustrative purposes.
