Details
The untested non-native forestry species policy statement for England sets out the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (Defra) position that the planting of such species is not allowed by default.
Planting is only permitted under specific circumstances, for instance the purposes of research. Such planting should be of an appropriate scale and monitored by a third party.
This policy statement will be reviewed, and updated if required, following the implementation of a risk assessment framework for untested non-native species.
