For the 2025 to 2026 commission the BFEG has been asked to consider and provide ethical advice on issues relating to:

  • biometrics

  • artificial intelligence

  • the Forensic Information Databases Strategy

This organisation is now called the Science and Technology Ethics Advisory Committee (STEAC).
