Updates to this page
-
MGN 564 (M+F) has been amended to reflect revisions to marine casualty and marine incident reporting requirements resulting from the Merchant Shipping (Accident Reporting and Investigation) Regulations 2026 that entered force on 15 May 2026.
-
Today, we've published an amended version of MGN 564 Marine Casualty and Marine Incident Reporting. This is to take account of the Intended Pleasure Vessel (IPV) Code, in that, if a marine casualty or incident occurs to a pleasure vessel that is operating commercially under the code, this is reportable to the MAIB. This is reflected by the addition of one sentence to the paragraph ‘What to Report’. The rest of the MGN remains unchanged.
