The PE and sport premium digital expenditure reporting return opened for schools on Friday 26 June 2026.
To complete your report, access the instructions for completing the reporting and assurance form above.
You must complete your submission by 5pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
This guidance is for primary schools.
It explains:
- what the PE and sport premium is
- how much funding you will get, and how you will get it
- what you can, and cannot, spend it on
- effective ways to spend it
- how you will be held accountable for your spending
- how to report your spending
Your use of the funding must meet the conditions of grant.

We have updated the guidance for the 2025 to 2026 academic year. Schools now get 50% of their funding allocation in the first payment and 50% in the second payment. We have also reformatted the page to make it easier to use, and clarified the duties on schools throughout the guidance.
