Sustainable Communities Act and barrier busting

The Sustainable Communities Act 2007 provides an opportunity for councils to submit proposals to central government to remove legislative or other barriers that prevent them from improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of their area.

Individuals or community groups can use the barrier busting process to submit ideas on how local services can be delivered better.
