CNC connects with veterans at UK's largest careers event
CNC officers met service leavers and veterans at the UK's largest veterans careers fair to showcase policing careers protecting the UK's civil nuclear sector.
Representatives from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) attended the Veteran UK EXPO in Manchester, meeting service leavers and veterans to showcase careers protecting the UK’s civil nuclear sector.
Joining more than 100 exhibitors at Manchester Central, CNC officers spoke directly with members of the Armed Forces community about opportunities to become Authorised Firearms Officers (AFO) after military service.
Veteran UK EXPO is the UK’s largest careers fair dedicated to service leavers and veterans. This year’s Manchester event welcomed around 1,650 attendees, providing employers with the opportunity to connect directly with people transitioning from military to civilian careers.
Sergeant Darren Adams, Chair of the Civil Nuclear Police Federation, and PCs Mark O’Neill and Rob Jones shared their experiences of policing within the CNC. They explained how the leadership, decision-making and operational skills developed in the Armed Forces transfer into policing, while answering questions about training, pay and benefits, career progression, and the recruitment process.
They also highlighted the range of specialist opportunities available within the CNC, including the Strategic Escort Group (SEG), Police Medic, Dog Handler and Firearms Instructor roles.
The event reflects the CNC’s continued commitment to attracting talented people from the Armed Forces community. Over the past year, more than 30 former service personnel have joined the force, bringing valuable operational experience and specialist skills to the organisation responsible for protecting the UK’s civil nuclear sites and safeguarding the transport of nuclear material.
