Guidance

Nationally significant infrastructure projects: how to submit an application for development consent

How to submit an application for development consent on a Nationally significant infrastructure project

Applies to England and Wales

Applicants must submit their application using the secure ‘Apply for and manage your infrastructure project’ site. A link to the site will be provided by the Planning Inspectorate a minimum of 4 weeks before the confirmed submission date.

The application should be submitted between 9am and 5pm on the submission date.

Applicants should begin the submission process (including uploading documents) early so that they can meet the confirmed submission date. If the submission date is missed the applicant should contact the Planning Inspectorate to agree a new date.

The application form will be populated during the submission process and a PDF copy of the completed application form will be sent to the applicant when the application has been submitted. There is no need for applicants to submit a completed application form with their application as the PDF copy will automatically be added to the submission documents.

For more information see the Planning Inspectorate’s advice for applicants on the preparation and submission of application documents.
