Details

This document provides guidance to:

  • the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on its environmental objectives when carrying out its air navigation functions
  • the CAA and wider aviation industry on airspace and noise management

It also includes a copy of the new air navigation directions issued to the CAA under section 66(1) of the Transport Act 2000.

UK air navigation guidance 2026 comes into effect on 1 October 2026. This 2017 guidance will continue to apply to certain airspace change proposals already in progress, in accordance with the transitional arrangements set out in the 2026 guidance.
