This HMPPS policy framework setsbrings outtogether theexisting rulespolicies andon guidancecommunications forcontrols staff concerning the implementation and managementinterception ofinto theone Enhancedpolicy Contactframework. VettingIt (ECV)sets schemeout andthe applicationrules and managementguidance offor visitorstaff bans, and will supportimprove HMPPS’ ability to manage communication risks and to help mitigate potential security threats whilst protecting the public and supporting the rehabilitation of prisoners.
This policy framework replaces PSI 04/2016: The interception of communications in prisons and security measures.
The new Approved Contacts Scheme will be implemented from January 2023.
