This guidance has been updated to clarify that, under section 14(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981, a person born outside the UK before 1983 could qualify for British citizenship and under Section 25(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981, a person born outside the British overseas territories before 1983 could qualify for British overseas territories citizenship and to explain that customers who qualify for British citizenship OTBD under section 14(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981 because their father was in designated service, will become British citizens.
