Consultation description

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking views on proposals to update statutory fees charged from 1 April 2027. The proposals are intended to ensure the MHRA continues to recover the cost of delivering its regulatory services while driving further improvements in service reliability, predictability and timeliness. They include increases to most fees in line with inflation, targeted changes for selected services, enhanced service standards and support for eligible small and medium-sized enterprises, and improvements to scientific advice and medical device post-market surveillance services.

Proposals include

We are seeking views on the following proposals:

  • Increase most fees by indexation only.
  • Targeted increases for a small number of higher-value services.
  • Enhanced service standards, guaranteed timelines and rebates for selected services.
  • Enhanced support for eligible small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Improvements to the MHRA’s scientific advice service.
  • A phased update to the medical devices post-market surveillance fee.
  • Adjustments to some existing fees.
