This change accounts for the collection of personal information throughout the process of applying for or managing seafarer certification or licences. It also accounts for the collection of personal information when taking associated online examinations and assessments.

The Seafarer training, certification and examination privacy information notice has been updated for 2026. A privacy notice for the UK Maritime Innovation Hub has also been added.

If you contact us directly to report an incident, we will ask you for your contact details which may be shared with our coastguard rescue officers/volunteers... this may include relevant medical details at the time of the incident which will ensure appropriate rescue.
