Place-Based Philanthropy Community of Practice programme: grant competiton

DCMS is providing up to £997,000 of grant funding to a delivery partner or consortium to establish and manage a community of practice for place-based giving initiatives (PBG initiatives) across England, and administer a programme of onward capacity building grants to a small number of specific PBG initiatives. 

This fund is a key commitment of DCMS’ Our Place to Give: a plan for growing place-based philanthropy, launched in April 2026. This community of practice will look to strengthen the capacity, capability and sustainability of PBG initiatives. 

Eligibility

DCMS is seeking to select a single grant recipient, which could be a single organisation, or a consortium (with a lead partner making the application). The successful bidder will receive this funding to deliver this commitment between November 2026 and March 2029. This funding can only be used for activity in England. 

Funding

The following funding is available:

• Up to £330,333 in financial year 2026/27
• Up to £333,333 in financial year 2027/28
• Up to £333,334  in financial year 2028/29
