InThe November 2025, the Department for Education confirmed that the national school breakfast programme (NSBP) wouldended end in July 2026. All eligibleNSBP schools onwith theprimary-age NSBPpupils havewere been offered a place on the free breakfast club programme tofrom start in September 2026. 2026.
AsFor the freethe breakfast2026 clubto programme2027 isacademic foryear, primary-age pupils only, NSBP secondary schools arewith notsecondary-age eligiblepupils tohave join,been andoffered socontinued willfinancial besupport providedfrom withthe aDepartment grant for theEducation academic year 2026 to 2027offer to enable them to continue to provide breakfast food to their pupils at no cost to them or their parents.pupils.
The NSBP secondary school support grant 2026 to 2027 funding methodology sets out the methodology that underpins this grant funding commencingstarting from autumnNovember 2026.
