Who should read this publication
AJP-5 is intended primarily as guidance for NorthNorth Atlantic Treaty Organization Atlantic(NATO) commanders Treaty Organization (NATO) commanders and their staff. However, the doctrine is instructive to the planning of operations by a coalition of NATO Allies and/or North Atlantic Council (NAC)(NAC) approved approved Nations, NATONATO Partners, Partners,partner nations and partner nations and non-NATO actors and for national planning within the framework of collective deterrence and defence.
It also provides a reference for NATO civilian and non-NATO civilian actors. AJP-5 focuses on the operational level, although it also has utility at the strategic and tactical levels.
