Patient group direction templates for avian influenza incidents have been published for local authorisation purposes.

Following a change in the risk assessment of avian influenza A(H5N8), the interim recommendations for response to confirmed avian influenza A(H5N8) outbreaks and incidents in avian species have been withdrawn.

Those responding to outbreaks and incidents of avian influenza A(H5N8) should refer to the existing guidance Managing the human health implications of avian influenza in poultry and wild birds: guidance for health protection teams.
