Details

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is obliged to publish quarterly forecasts of expenditure on the Green Gas Support Scheme (GGSS). These can trigger a reduction of 10% in the scheme tariffs, called a degression, if spending is forecast to breach a threshold amount over the year ahead. If this occurs, we will also publish a Tariff Change Notice here.

Expenditure Forecast Statements are published by 1 March, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December each year that the GGSS is open to applications. Statements are based on scheme data as of 31 January, 30 April, 31 July and 31 October respectively, provided to DESNZ by Ofgem.

The 1 September Statements cannot trigger a degression, as they are published simultaneously with the Annual Tariff Review, which takes precedence for setting tariffs from 1 October each year. They are published for transparency only. If an Annual Tariff Review announces a change in scheme tariffs, it will be accompanied by a Tariff Change Notice on the Annual Tariff Review page.
