Lists of confined establishments in Great Britain, Jersey and the Isle of Man approved to export or move ungulates to the EU and Northern Ireland.

Details

Your premises must be approved as a confined establishment by the competent authority in Great Britain, Jersey and the Isle of Man if you’re exporting or moving ungulates to the EU and Northern Ireland for:

  • exhibitions
  • education
  • conservation
  • research

Confined establishments are permanent premises, such as zoos or laboratories.

Ungulates covered by these lists are all hooved animals except equines, including:

  • alpacas
  • antelopes
  • camels
  • cows
  • elephants
  • giraffes
  • goats
  • hippos
  • llamas
  • pigs
  • rhinos
  • sheep
  • tapirs
  • wild pigs

The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is the competent authority in Great Britain.

Guidance on exporting or moving ungulates from confined establishments in Great Britain will be published at a later date.

Amended approval dates for Bristol Zoo Gardens, Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Colchester Zoo, Manor Wildlife Park, Marwell Zoo and Wild Place Project. 2. Updated 'Marwell Wildlife' to 'Marwell Zoo'. 3. Removed duplicate entry for ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

  9. We've updated the approval date for Knowsley Safari Park.

  10. Updated ungulates confinement establishments - The following establishments have expired Dartmoor Zoological Society, Drusillas Park, Exmoor Zoological Park,Manor Wildlife Park, Shepreth Wildlife Park and Woodside Wildlife Park. We have updated the approval date for the following establishments: Yorkshire Wildlife Park,Cotswold Wildlife Park, Five Sisters Zoo,Flamingo Land resort, Hopwood Hall and Ponderosa Zoo.

  11. Updated the list of confined establishments in Great Britain: 1. Removed 'Zoological Education Centre', 'Wild Discovery', 'The Tropical Butterfly House', 'Tropical World', 'Reaseheath Mini Zoo', 'Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park' and 'Equibox'. 2. Marked the approval for 'Blackpool Zoo', 'Classical MileEnd Alpacas', 'Drusillas Park', 'Jersey Zoo', 'Drayton Manor resort LTD', 'Hopwood Hall', 'Peak Wildlife Park', 'Wildwood Trust' and 'Paradise Wildlife Park' as expired.

  12. Paignton Zoo entry marked as Withdrawn.

  13. The suspension on Marwell Wildlife has been lifted. Approval date for Newquay Zoo updated to 16 Nov 2022.

  14. We suspended Marwell Wildlife on 23 February 2023

  18. We have made the following 5 amendments to the Ungulate list Blair Drummond Safari Park approval date amended to 8 November 2022, Scottish African Safari Park was removed from the list as it was a duplicate approval, Hamerton Zoological Park approval date amended to 20 September, Ian Garland Falcons, Raptor Farm and Linton Zoo Conservation Park were removed from the list.
