On the morning of 4 November 2023, exchanges of gunfire took place between security forces and an armed group that attacked the Central Prison in the Kaloum district of Conakry. The situation remains tense with security forces looking for those responsible, as well as a small number of high-profile detainees taken from the prison. As a result, all land borders have reportedly been closed. You should exercise caution and follow the advice of local authorities.
