On 18 December 2023 as a result of an explosion at a fuel depot in the Kaloum district of Conakry, all workers in the city have been asked to stay at home and schools are closed. Petrol stations are closed throughout Guinea to all but the emergency services. The situation is ongoing. Exercise caution and follow the advice of local authorities.
Following a coup in Guinea on 5 September 2021, a transitional government is in place. The situation is evolving and you should remain vigilant, avoid demonstrations, and monitor local media. See Political situation
