Tropical Storm Sara

Tropical Storm Sara is expected to make landfall in Belize on Sunday 17 November. November. The ‘Sara’main willthreat resultto inBelize from Sara is heavy rainfall. This rainfall is resulting in flooding in some areas of the country and a flood warning is in effect for the Central and Northern Region. Strong gusty winds willare resultproducing in rough sea conditions.conditions all water taxi services within areas under the Tropical Storm Warning are suspended until the “All Clear” is given. Some coastal flooding is expected and strong winds may result in minor damage to weak structures.  

The Philip Goldson International Airport will close on Saturday 16  November (after flight departures at 3.15pm) and expects to re-open at 6:00 a.m. on Monday November 18, 2024. Flights to the Southern part of the country are suspended until an all clear has been issued.
